At Hunter Scrubs, our biggest goal is to cut out the hassle of finding good quality, stylish medical scrubs here in Australia—which is exactly what we've been doing since our store was born back in 2004.

When our store launched, we quickly realised that all of our customers have incredibly different needs and desires when it comes to the fit, colour, and style of their scrubs. Since then, we have been constantly expanding our range to cover the needs of as many people as possible.

As our customer-base continued to grow, so did the amount of requests for scrubs that were Australian-made—you asked, so we answered!

Today, we offer a range of premium custom-made scrub tops, hats and reusable face masks in a variety of colours, patterns, and styles.

We receive quite a lot of questions about these on a regular basis, so we thought it would be helpful to answer a few of the most common ones here!

Why are your Australian-made scrubs more expensive?

In the simplest of terms—making your own scrubs here in Australia costs a lot more than purchasing them from other brands, or manufacturing them offshore.

There are four main factors that go into this increase in cost:

  1. The materials used are more expensive.
  2. Labour costs are higher.
  3. The scrubs are handmade by a small team, which means the production time is much longer.
  4. The scrubs are custom-made to order, which means we can't order them in bulk to reduce the cost.

Why are your scrubs made-to-order?

Manufacturing our Australian-made scrubs on demand has so many benefits—both for us, and our customers.

Firstly, making them to order means we are able to answer many more special requests, and tailor garments to the customer's individual needs.

If we manufactured our custom scrubs in bulk, we wouldn't have the capacity or resources to personalise our garments—and as meeting the needs of our customers is our main goal, it was a no-brainer to do it this way!

How do you care for the environment with your manufacturing process?

It's well-known that the fashion industry has one of the biggest impacts on the environment. In fact, according to an article by the United Nations Environment Programme, it accounts for between 8-10 per cent of carbon emissions worldwide!

Along with catering to our customers' needs, reducing our waste has been a top priority.

One of the first things we've done, is repurpose and donate the leftover fabric, which would have otherwise been thrown away.

We've turned our offcuts into face masks, and we've donated a substantial portion to a variety of local community groups, preschools, and not for profits—zero-waste, here we come!

Can I bring in my own fabric?

Yes!

If you're looking for something even more unique than our extensive fabric range, we are able to create our custom garments in your own fabric too.

Please come and visit us in our Redhead store, or send us an email at admin@scrubs.com.au for more info.

Which size would be best for me?

We have created in-depth size guides for each of our custom garments, including exact measurements of the garment itself, and recommended fit measurements for choosing your size.

You can access the size guide by clicking the button next to the price of the product on our online store.

How long will it take to receive my custom garment?

The manufacturing and delivery time can vary, depending on demand and the time of year. We recommend allowing up to two weeks to avoid disappointment.
